Collaboration - Imogen Morris
Artist, Imogen says
“I am influenced by the traditional craft of hand-embroidery, but my style puts a contemporary spin on thread as an art material. My practice challenges the boundaries between craft and fine art.
I see thread as my pencil or paintbrush; exploring the versatility of thread, in ways that means it intrudes into other mediums. I push, pull and stretch the line of thread to draw. I build up layers in colour to create form, light, and shadow. I morph thread into tangible, 3D forms to push the work into the sculptural realm.”
‘Collaboration’ is a work of reflection. Imogen looked back to her previous creations, scrutinising what elements she was most drawn to within them. One element in particular was when the line of paint accidentally follows the line of the thread.
Normally, Imogen purposefully goes against the mark making on her canvas with her thread however for ‘Collaboration’ she has decided to have both elements work together symbiotically to form the face.

The artwork is framed in a float mount style with a white open grain, double frame with a peach spacer to tie in with the palette of the artwork.
Framed, the artwork measures 67cm x 88cm
