Anita Roye, an artist from Birmingham, embarked on her creative journey at the Birmingham School of Art on Margaret Street. A 2014 graduate with first-class honours in Fine Art, she delved into the depths beyond human physicality. While mirrors reflect our image, Anita is captivated by the intricate layers beneath. Her canvas becomes a domain of artistic exploration, manipulating light, shadow, and life's inherent energies. Her artwork engages with the full range of human emotions, beginning with spontaneous, vivid paint strokes. Eschewing rigid plans, she allows these initial marks to guide the artwork's evolution. In a crucial second stage, she fearlessly exposes each element, channelling pure emotion. Rather than smoothing over the marks, Anita eliminates the unnecessary, allowing the necessary to speak.
