Imogen returned to her former technique of art-making, in which she crafted the person’s likeness with coloured thread on a white background, enabling the thread to reveal the portrait. By building up layers, the thread creates light and shadow that form the face.
Imogen finds Marilyn inspirational, reaching the status of a cinematic icon despite the hardships she faced throughout her life. She was also a passionate supporter of equal and LGBTQ+ rights.
With pink, peach and gold threads, Imogen created Marilyn’s portrait, capturing her timeless style as well as symbolising the glamour Hollywood Golden Era.
