Beginning
Sam Weeks created these two paintings to explore her fascination with opposing forces and energies. In "Beginning" and "Concluding," she delves into the interplay of light and dark, drawing parallels with natural phenomena such as day and night, sunrise and sunset, and the broader concepts of beginnings and endings. Much like bookends that stabilize and hold books upright, "Beginning" and "Concluding" symbolize the two ends of a day, a journey, a project, or any finite period. Each is entirely dependent on the other to exist, defining the space they encompass.
