Pigeon Park, 2008 - InsideOutPants
InsideOutPants, aka Joel Prices illustrations serve as a creative outlet for a multitude of eccentric and flamboyant characters and scenes that inhabit his mind. Joel’s bold, almost surrealist style is rich in detail, often weaving mini-narratives throughout each piece. His art acts as social commentary, delving into sub-culture and the intense, voyeuristic aspects of society. Influenced by skateboarding, sticker art, fashion, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, and Motown, Joel draws inspiration from artists like Picasso, Martin Handford, Keith Haring, and Robert Crumb.
InsideOutPants has captured a moment in time for many of Birmingham’s youth. For him, Pigeon Park, which is actually St Philip's Cathedral grounds, is dedicated to the memories of a place that birthed, housed and nourished so many friendships, subcultures and Birmingham talents.
