ANITA ROYE - DEBUT COLLECTION- EMBRACING THE NEBULOUS

We are thrilled to announce a new chapter at the gallery as we welcome the distinguished and exceptionally talented Anita Roye to our Circle. Anita brings her unique vision and captivating abstract works and we can't wait to share her debut collection with you.

Anita, who is based in Birmingham, embarked on her creative journey at the Birmingham School of Art on Margaret Street. A 2014 graduate with first-class honours in Fine Art, she delved into the depths beyond human physicality. While mirrors reflect our image, Anita is captivated by the intricate layers beneath. Her canvas becomes a domain of artistic exploration, manipulating light, shadow, and life's inherent energies. Her artwork engages with the full range of human emotions, beginning with spontaneous, vivid paint strokes. Eschewing rigid plans, she allows these initial marks to guide the artwork's evolution. In a crucial second stage, she fearlessly exposes each element, channelling pure emotion. Rather than smoothing over the marks, Anita eliminates the unnecessary, allowing the necessary to speak.

Anita’s dual role as an art psychotherapist and artist has given rise to abstract paintings that bridge both worlds however the name sake of her collection, the idea of the "nebulous" is important within the realms of philosophy.

Philosophers like Søren Kierkegaard talked about how life is often unclear and full of uncertainties. But Kierkegaard and others didn't see this as something to be upset about. Instead, they saw it as an opportunity for deep thinking and self-discovery. They believed that these uncertainties help us understand ourselves, our beliefs, and our role in the world better. So, in philosophy, the "nebulous" isn't a problem. It's a chance for us to think deeply, reflect, and grow as individuals.

For us, Anita’s work invites viewers to peel back the layers, revealing the profound interplay of emotion, resilience, and human experience
